The Memory of Nikolai Ostapenko is honored in Slobodzeya District

Today, the Slobodzeya District honored the memory of the Chairman of the Slobodzeya District Council Nikolai Ostapenko. April 23 has been a tragic date in the history of the district since 1992. On this day, at 7:45 a.m., on the section of the highway between the settlements of Slobodzeya and Karagash, the "Buzhor" terrorist group fired at the official car of Nikolai Ostapenko. The deputy of the Supreme Council of the 1st convocation, the chairman of the Slobodzeya district council received multiple injuries as a result. Nikolai Ivanovich died in the hospital a week later, on April 30.

Memorial rally is held at the site of the tragedy every year on the morning of April 23. The event was attended this year by the deputy of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic for electoral district No. 21 "Slobodzeya" Pavel Shinkaruk, the head of the state administration of the Slobodzeya district and the city of Slobodzeya Vasily Tishchenko, the chairman of the Slobodzeya district city council Tatyana Zalevskaya, colleagues, friends and associates of Nikolai Ostapenko, representatives of the public, Cossacks.

The rally participants remembered in their speeches Nikolai Ostapenko as a brave, decent and dedicated person who stood at the origins of the creation of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. Deputy of the Supreme Council Pavel Shinkaruk noted the contribution of Nikolai Ostapenko to the establishment of the young Pridnestrovian state, the wise and courageous leadership of the region during that difficult period of time, and emphasized that the memory of Nikolai Ostapenko is alive in the hearts of Pridnestrovians and is passed on to the younger generation. In conclusion, flowers were laid at the monument constructed on the tragic site.
