A city tournament on Russian checkers was held at the Center for Children and Youth Creativity in Slobodzeya during the winter holidays. Competitions of young draught players were timed to coincide with the New Year holidays and took place for the second time. About forty children of preschool and school age took part in it. The guys played with pleasure and showed good results.
A member of the Supreme Council on electoral district No. 28 Slobodzeysky, Pavel Shinkaryuk, came to support the tournament participants. He noted that this year the number of participants in the tournament almost doubled, which speaks of the popularization of this game among children. Pavel Shinkaryuk wished young sportsmen successes and new achievements, congratulated them on New Year and Christmas holidays. The parliamentarian presented certificates to prizewinners and sweet gifts to all participants.
As the organizers of the competition emphasized, checkers represent sports and art in one game, and the child who learns it becomes more collected, gets used to thinking and making decisions quickly, thinking logically, and struggling to the end.
