The grand opening of the reconstructed summer cinema took place in the city of Slobodzeya on June 21. The President PMR Vadim Krasnoselsky, deputies of the Supreme Council for Slobodzeya electoral districts Pavel Shinkaryuk, Sergey Cheban and Igor Yarych, local authorities and townspeople were present at the event.
The cinema has a long history. More than one generation of Slobodzeya residents came here to watch films and concerts. Built in 1967 the cinema has been abandoned for the last ten years. A large-scale reconstruction began, financed from the Capital Investment Fund on the initiative of the head of state Vadim Krasnoselsky in 2022. As a result, not only the cinema building was updated, but also the area around it, the road and parking lot were expanded and paved with tiles, a park was laid out, which locals call the newlyweds’ park, and a square was created at the entrance, which in Slobodzeya has already been nicknamed “Flower”. The cinema was equipped with a modern large screen and the latest sound system; the open-air auditorium will be able to accommodate almost 800 spectators.
The cinema is opened during the Year of Family Values, which gives this event special significance. The summer cinema will become not only a place to watch films, but also a space where families can spend time together. Professional artists and children's groups from the Slobodzeya district performed on stage, creating a festive atmosphere for all guests during the opening ceremony. Many residents of Slobodzeya who attended the opening did not hide their emotions.
The summer cinema received the status of “historical monument” and was legally included in the register of immovable objects of cultural heritage of Pridnestrovie. Along with the cinema the city center was renewed. The President Vadim Krasnoselsky, deputies and guests saw everything today: recreation areas, the newlyweds' park, the flower garden. They are confident that Slobodzeya continues to develop and become an increasingly attractive place for living and recreation.
The first film shown tonight in the renovated cinema will be the Russian family film “Cheburashka”, beloved by both adults and children. Free movies will be shown once a week on Sundays until the end of September. This is a symbolic beginning of a new history of the old cinema, which is reopening its doors to spectators of all ages and will become a universal place for family recreation, meetings with friends and a pleasant pastime for residents of both the city and the region.
