The 5th session of the 7th convocation of the PMR Supreme Council was opened: tasks and plans

18.01.2023

The Supreme Council opened the 5th session of the 7th convocation on the 18th of January. The first plenary session of the Pridnestrovian Parliament took place after the PMR President announced the Address to the state authorities and administration, where tasks for 2023 were set, including the PMR Supreme Council. The Speaker of the Parliament announced the plans of the Supreme Council of the PMR in a commentary to journalists today, taking into consideration the tasks set by the President. They concern the adjustment and development of the current legislation both in the financial sector and in the development of the real sector of the economy, the head of the legislative body noted.

“One of the serious promises is the completion of work on the Budget Code. Let me remind you that we have been working on the adoption of a codified legal act for about 2 years. The work is not easy, we received a large amount of amendments from the Government that allows this law-in-draft to be finalized and adopted in the second reading,” the Chairman of the PMR Supreme Council emphasized.

Among the tasks set by the President there is improving the mechanism for using reclamation systems, resolving the issue of abandoned non-residential buildings and other issues that have already been taken under control by parliamentary committees and are being worked on.

“The PMR Supreme Council traditionally has a lot of plans for 2023. Starting from international activities, development of inter-parliamentary relations and ending with the decision to support and develop the real sector of the economy, develop investment policy and improve the welfare of citizens in terms of increasing social benefits, of course. It is important to understand that simply declaring a decision is not enough, it is necessary to find financial support for the implementation of this or that decision,” said the PMR Supreme Council Chairman Alexander Korshunov.

He noted that the decision taken on January 18 to increase the size of pension payments and child benefits was verified and calculated.

“We are confident that we will be able to pay all social obligations, including increased ones in 2023”, the speaker said.
