The republic will ban smoking at bus stops, in parks and squares

The Government proposed to expand the list of places where tobacco smoking is prohibited (except for specially designated places). It may include city and suburban public transport stops, squares and parks.

“It is also proposed to expand the list of modes of transport on which smoking is prohibited, supplementing it with river transport vessels that carry out passenger transportation,” added the official representative of the Government.

The parliamentarians in the course of the discussion of the government initiative drew attention to the fact that today not all parks are equipped with specially designated smoking areas. The deputies discussed how the ban on tobacco smoking will operate in territories whose boundaries cannot be clearly defined.

Amendments and additions to the law "On protecting the health of citizens from the effects of environmental tobacco, the consequences of the consumption of tobacco and other nicotine-containing mixtures without tobacco" were unanimously supported by the deputies in the first reading. Work on the law-in-draft will continue. All proposals made at the plenary session will be taken into account when preparing the law-in-draft for the second reading.
