The republic will revive GTO (Ready for Labor and Defense)

Parliamentarians at the plenary session adopted in final reading amendments to the law "On Physical Culture and Sport", which are called upon to revive the practice of surrendering the standards of the complex "Ready for Labor and Defense" in the Soviet Union. As the authors of the law-in-draft noted earlier, the deputies of the Supreme Council Igor Buga, Pavel Shinkaryuk and Andrey Safonov, this will be an incentive for increasing the youth's interest in sports, promoting health, harmonious and all-round development of the individual, and the upbringing of patriotism.

According to amendments to the law, at the first stage the GTO will appear on a voluntary basis in organizations of general and vocational education. Young people who express a desire to pass the GTO standards will be able to use their results when entering the universities of the republic. The GTO complex provides for the preparation and direct implementation of school standards by the students in three levels of complexity, corresponding to gold, silver or bronze marks of distinction. This will be a kind of bonus for future entrants.
