The days of the tragedy in Bendery are remembered in Pridnestrovie

628 human lives were interrupted by the days of the tragedy in Bendery. There are 66 residents of Tiraspol among the fallen defenders. The memory of the fallen heroes was honored with a minute of silence at the capital's Memorial of Glory. The event was attended by the Deputy Chairperson of the Supreme Council Galina Antyufeyeva, the First President of the PMR, the Head of the Advisory Assembly of the first Pridnestrovian deputies Igor Smirnov, the city administration, representatives of veteran organizations, the public, and the youth.

29 years ago, bloody battles between Pridnestrovian militias and Moldovan armed formations for control over the city of Bendery. The mournful day in the history of Pridnestrovie broke the fates of many people, divided them from loved ones forever. On June 19, Militiamen, Cossacks, soldiers of the territorial rescue detachment, the Delta battalion and civilians who stood up for the interests of our state showed courage was celebrated at a commemorative event.

Representatives of state authorities and public organizations observed a minute of silence for the fallen defenders and laid flowers at their graves and monuments at the Glory Memorial.

Commemorative events dedicated to the 29th anniversary of the Bendery tragedy are held today in all cities and regions of the republic. The sirens will go off and the Republican Minute of Silence will take place at 4:45 pm. The armed clash between the Pridnestrovian and Moldovan security forces took place near the Bendery printing house at this time, on June 19, 1992.
