Deputies of the Consultative Assembly of the first Pridnestrovian deputies decided to appeal to the PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky and the PMR Supreme Council about convening a congress of deputies of all levels of Pridnestrovie in connection with the deteriorating economic situation in the republic.

The founders of the republic made this decision today in the course of the meeting of the commission of the Advisory Assembly, created at yesterday’s meeting of the Consultative Assembly, where the issue of the deterioration of the economic situation of Pridnestrovie against the backdrop of economic pressure from the Republic of Moldova was discussed.

The first Pridnestrovian deputies focused on the fact that the Pridnestrovian border with Ukraine is closed, economic agents have to import and export goods, raw materials and fuels and lubricants only through Moldova. Trade turnover decreased in connection with this, and the situation has worsened due to the introduction by Moldova of new customs duties for the import of products by Pridnestrovian enterprises since January.

According to information provided by the Minister of Economic Development of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, the volume of industrial production for large and medium-sized enterprises in January alone decreased by 14% compared to January last year. The amount of taxes for January was reduced by 1.2 million rubles for three enterprises – Elektromash, Moldavizolit and Bendery Potential. The losses of Pridnestrovian enterprises due to new customs duties could range from 12 to 33 million dollars over the course of the year.

The situation affected the work of individual entrepreneurs; they began to import less goods. The monthly amount of shortfalls in the state budget from this category of payers may amount to about 1.7 million rubles. The single customs payment in January fell by almost 10 million rubles (-18% compared to January 2023).

Deputies of the Consultative Assembly of the first Pridnestrovian deputies decided to appeal to the PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky and the PMR Supreme Council about convening a congress of deputies of all levels of Pridnestrovie in the near future.
