Day of family, love and fidelity is celebrated in Pridnestrovie

The Day of Family, Love and Fidelity holiday is dedicated to the memory of Saints Peter and Fevronia, who are considered the patrons of marriage. Various thematic events are held every year on July 8 in all cities and regions of Pridnestrovie: concerts, charity events, wheelchair parades, flash mobs. In addition, the strongest married couples who have been married for more than a dozen years are congratulated this day. A number of laws and social programs are in force that help to maintain family values to increase the social security of Pridnestrovian families, create conditions for improving the demographic situation in the republic. The development of family policy and the preservation of the institution of the family is one of the main tasks of our state, according to the PMR Supreme Council deputies.

The Supreme Council adopted the law "On state support for young families for the purchase of housing" in February 2020. The concessional lending program for the purchase of housing applies to state employees and young professionals under the age of 35. Let's remind that the state subsidy for the purchase of housing is provided in the form of a soft loan in one of the Pridnestrovian banks. The loan is issued for 10 years in PMR rubles. According to the Law on Personal Income Tax, no income tax will be charged on this income. The size of the subsidy also depends on the number of children. Families without children can qualify for a subsidy of $ 10000. One child qualifies for support in the equivalent of 12 thousand dollars, families with two children or more - 14 thousand dollars.

There are several more programs in Pridnestrovie that help to purchase their own housing. One of them is the Presidential Housing Program. It is being implemented throughout the republic and only in those cities where there are unfinished multi-storey buildings. This program involves young people working in the public sector. These are doctors, teachers, law enforcement officers and military personnel.

The state helps not only young families, but also large families. The republic has the law “On state support for large families”. Its goal is to improve the demographic situation in Pridnestrovie and provide conditions for the full-fledged upbringing, development and education of children from large families. According to the law, a family raising three or more children is large. Various benefits are provided for this category of citizens, for utility bills for example. Children from large families can travel for free on all types of public transport, except for suburban transport. Even preschoolers and schoolchildren eat free of charge in kindergartens and schools. Toddlers under the age of 6 can get free prescription medicines. The list of the medicines is approved by the PMR Government. The state allocates money for the purchase of stationery for each first-grader child from a large family. Every year, children from large families under the age of 18 receive school supplies. The state also allocates money for these purposes. Families raising 10 or more children are completely exempted from utility bills.

The Supreme Council adopted the legislative initiative of the President of the PMR aimed at supporting Pridnestrovian families in May 2021. According to the adopted amendments, the period for paying childcare benefits was increased by six months. Previously, this allowance was paid up to 1 year 6 months, now - up to 2 years. These changes affected citizens receiving an allowance in the amount of 110 minimum wage (1067 rubles), and those who received an allowance in the amount of 80 minimum wage (776 rubles). In addition, the amount of benefits for children from low-income families under the age of 16 was increased. The amount of the allowance is 31 minimum wage or 300 rubles 70 kopecks for this category of citizens today.
