Day of Science is celebrated in Pridnestrovie

The Day of Science is celebrated at Pridnestrovian State University named after Taras Shevchenko. The university held a republican scientific and practical conference of the academic and teaching staff online in honor of the holiday. Representatives of the scientific community made presentations. The topics of scientific works are very different - from research in the sphere of archeology to the publication of the second volume of the Red Book of Pridnestrovie.

The Vice-Speaker of the Parliament Galina Antyufeeva, the Chairman of the Committee on Education, Public Associations and the Mass Media of the Supreme Council Igor Buga and other representatives of state authorities addressed their congratulations to professors, doctors, candidates of sciences, graduate students, staff and teachers.

The main scientific center of Pridnestrovie is the State University. More than 300 doctors and candidates of sciences work at the university, more than 15 scientific laboratories operate today. The Parliament Speaker Alexander Korshunov noted in his congratulatory address that Pridnestrovie needs new discoveries, innovative approaches and constructive ideas, and this is the only way to solve the problems of socio-economic development necessary for the prosperity of our state.

Science Day is celebrated on February 8 for one reason – the Academy of Sciences was formed this day in 1724, by decree of Peter I. This is a professional holiday of scientists, it is a holiday of innovative ideas, discoveries, knowledge that scientists gave to mankind. Science is a powerful resource for economic transformation, the most important component of national wealth, and this is an objective reality in all countries of the world. Artificial intelligence, genetics, new materials, energy sources, digital technologies are among the priority areas today, said Stepan Beril, the rector of Pridnestrovian State University named after Taras Shevchenko.

As part of the online conference, they talked about the fact that Pridnestrovian scientists continue the glorious traditions, conduct relevant scientific research on state orders. They conduct fundamental and applied research, and obtain confirmed results at the international level. Various thematic events were held in the scientific and structural divisions of the State University within the framework of the week of science from February 1 to February 8. Among them there are international conferences, round tables, scientific seminars and a presentation, it was noted at the event.

In addition, the participants of the scientific and practical conference were shown a short film about the main scientific achievements of 2021 and the concept for the development of scientific activities of Pridnestrovian State University named after Taras Shevchenko.
