The state of emergency in the economy will be introduced in Pridnestrovie

The Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic will convene for the first emergency meeting in the spring session on the 11th of June. This decision was made in the course of the meeting of the parliamentary Presidium today.

The state of emergency economic regime was introduced on December 11, 2024 by the Decree of the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic due to the cessation and reduction of natural gas supplies to Pridnestrovie. The special legal regime was extended 5 times and ended on June 8, 2025.

The necessity of introduction a new state of emergency economic regime is due to the difficult economic situation caused by the reduction in gas supplies to Pridnestrovie.

The Presidium of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic supplemented today the agenda of the 1st plenary meeting of the IX (spring) session of the VII convocation, which will also take place on June 11. The Committee on Legislation, Protection of Rights and Freedoms of Citizens proposed to consider in the first reading the legislations sent by the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic in the mode of legislative necessity. This includes amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, which tighten administrative liability for the use of mobile communications while driving. It is planned in the second reading to consider amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses, which introduce liability for a knowingly faulty exhaust system of a vehicle. This is also law-in-draft of the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.

The Committee on Economic Policy, Budget and Finance submitted to tomorrow's plenary session the law-in-draft "On Amendments and Supplements to the Law of the PMR "On State Measures Aimed at Minimizing the Negative Impact in Connection with the Introduction of a State of Emergency Associated with the Reduction (Termination) of Natural Gas Supplies to the PMR", also sent by the President in the mode of legislative necessity. The document was considered today at a meeting of the Committee on Economic Policy, it will be considered in two readings at once at the plenary session, a table of amendments has been prepared for adoption in the second reading. The Presidium of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic scheduled the next plenary session for June 25. The agenda of the 2nd meeting of the IX session includes legislations prepared for consideration by the Committee on Agro-Industrial Complex and Transport, the Committee on Regional Policy Issues, and the Committee on Economic Policy, Budget, and Finance.
