In Anticipation of Amendments to the Customs Legislation

Members of the Presidium of the Supreme Council defined the issues on the agendas of the plenary meetings of September. The nearest will be tomorrow. Parliamentarians are to consider changes to the Customs Code. Their goal is to update the legislation and simplify customs procedures for economic agents. As it was noted during the meeting of the Presidium, the work on the law-in-draft lasted about three years. The legislative initiative, developed by Alexander Korshunov, was adopted in the first reading as early as 2014, but the final version of the law-in-draft was not formed. In the spring of this year the profile parliamentary committee again returned to work on amendments to the customs legislation. Several meetings of working groups were held. Members of the Government, representatives of customs, as well as public figures, production workers and representatives of the business community were invited to the discussion. As a result, the committee submitted 326 amendments to the Customs Code for consideration by the deputy corps.

By a decision of the Presidium, the next plenary meeting is scheduled for September 27. The parliamentarians will consider a block of legislations; the parliamentary committee on legislation is responsible for it. Most of the issues submitted for consideration by the deputy corps is related to the improvement of the norms of criminal procedural, civil and administrative legislation. Parliamentarians will consider amendments to the law "On State Secrets". The draft law was developed by the President Vadim Krasnoselsky. It was proposed to include officials of organizations that are not state authorities in the list of officials who have access to state secrets.
