Meeting with the PACE delegation was held in the parliament of Pridnestrovie

Deputies at different levels in Pridnestrovie try to represent the interests of citizens, their voters and protect the fundamental rights and freedoms of Pridnestrovians. Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Alexander Korshunov said this today in the course of the meeting with delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. The Head of the Committee on Social Policy, Healthcare, Labor, Family and Childhood Issues Sergei Cheban took part in the dialogue with European parliamentarians.

Chairman of the Committee on Migration, Refugees and Displaced Persons of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Pierre-Alain Fridez, Deputy Speaker of the Presidium of the Parliament of the Republic of Latvia, Chairman of the National Security Committee of the 12th Saeima Inese Libina-Egnere and Secretary of the PACE Monitoring Committee Sylvie Affholder are on a visit since October 12 in Chisinau. Today the delegation met with officials in Pridnestrovie.

The meeting began – with the football issue. The Head of the PACE delegation Pierre-Alain Fridez congratulated the Pridnestrovians on the victory of the Sheriff team over the Spanish team Real Madrid in the Champions League group stage match.

The Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Alexander Korshunov thanked for the congratulations and moved on to the subject of the conversation. The Speaker emphasized that Pridnestrovie has been striving to comply with international standards in the sphere of human rights protection since its foundation.

Alexander Korshunov noted that Tiraspol has been interacting at the official level with the senior UN expert on human rights in Pridnestrovie Thomas Hammarberg since 2012. As a result of his visits to the republic, he presented several reports on the situation with the rights and freedoms of citizens in the PMR. They confirm that the legislation of Pridnestrovie meets all basic international criteria in the sphere of the rights and freedoms of citizens.

Chairman of the Pridnestrovian Parliament emphasized that Pridnestrovie, unlike neighboring Moldova, fulfills all the agreements signed and is the initiator of the intensification of the negotiation process.
