In Memory of the Liberators

The 11th of April, 1944 – is the Day of the liberation of the village of Chobruchi in the Slobodzeya district from the German-Romanian invaders. Villagers, relatives of veterans of the Great Patriotic War, schoolchildren came to the Memorial of Glory with flowers today. Deputy of the Supreme Council for "Pervomaisky" constituency number 20 Oleg Vasilaty congratulated the citizens of Chobruchi on the Day of Liberation.

The names of the soldiers who liberated the village are carved, and photographs of the inhabitants of Chobruchi who died on different fronts during the Great Patriotic War are presented on the Memorial of Glory in Chobruchi. The monument was restored in 2020. It was replenished with new names of heroes. Photographs and information about their relatives who died in the war were brought by the villagers.

In addition, on the memorial plate you can see the names of the inhabitants of the village of Jewish nationality.

Participants of the commemorative rally laid flowers at the Memorial of Glory. There is another tradition in Chobruchi. Schoolchildren lay flowers at the grave of Ilya Efimovich Shcherbakov on the 11th of April and on the 9th of May. This is a reconnaissance soldier, a Soviet soldier who entered the village first on Liberation Day.

Natalya Baranova organizes commemorative events for the villagers, and keeps the memory of her grandfather, who fought in the Great Patriotic War, in her family. Arseniy Ivanovich Karaman went through the war from the first day.

The Great Patriotic War also affected the family of the Deputy Oleg Vasilaty. Both his grandfathers fought – Ivan Mironovich Zhumatiy and Matvey Ivanovich Vasilaty. They got to the front in 1944 after the liberation of Soviet Moldova, were injured, but reached Germany.

A commemorative rally was held today at the Memorial of Glory to the Russian part of the city of Slobodzeya. It was noted at the event the soldiers of the 3rd Ukrainian Front, as a result of the Odessa offensive operation, liberated the territory of the Slobodzeya district 78 years ago. The Soviet Information Bureau reported on the afternoon of April 11 that in the Tiraspol direction, Soviet troops advanced with battle and captured the regional center of Slobodzeya and occupied more than a hundred settlements. The liberation operation on the left bank of the Dniester was completed on April 14. More than 10 thousand Soviet soldiers and officers died in the battles for the liberation of the territory of the Slobodzeya district, it was said at the rally. In memory of the fallen defenders, the leadership and residents of Slobodzeya laid flowers at the Memorial of Glory.

The rally participants laid flowers at the memorial to the Soviet soldiers of the 37th Army, who liberated Slobozeya in 1944 from the German-Romanian invaders.
