In memory of the friend

The chairman of the executive committee of the district council of people's deputies Nikolai Ostapenko was remembered today in Slobodzeia near the building of the local state administration, as well as at the capital's memorial of fame. Participants of commemorative events in honor of the birthday of one of the founders of the republic were the Chairman of the Supreme Council Alexander Shcherba, the first president of the PMR Igor Smirnov, representatives of local authorities and public organizations.

Nikolai Ostapenko in the 1990s was one of the organizers of the resistance movement in Pridnestrovie. He made a great contribution to the political and economic development of the republic, took an active part in the work of the Supreme Soviet of the MSSR and its Presidium, was one of the developers of the Constitution of the PMR.

Today we remembered the tragic death of Nikolai Ivanovich. On April 23, 1992, the terrorists of the Bujor group fired at his car. April 30, due to injuries he died in the hospital.

Memorial events ended at the obelisk in honor of Nikolai Ostapenko, installed at the entrance to the village of Karagash. Flowers to the memorial were laid by friends, comrades-in-arms, as well as the leadership of the district and the republic.
