The banner installed in honor of the Honorary Citizen of Tiraspol Valentina Solovieva was opened today in the center of Tiraspol, at the shorter side of a building in Suvorov Square. It was installed as part of the My Great Compatriots project, which was initiated by Ilona Tyuryaeva, Deputy of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic and a member of the "Obnovlenie" (Renewal) party. The celebration was opened by a series of events that "Obnovlenie" party and the state administration of the capital have prepared for the 105th anniversary of the birth of an outstanding woman from Tiraspol.
Valentina Sergeevna was born on May 18, 1918. The woman, whose devotion to her work, the city and its people became legendary, was known throughout the Soviet Union. Being a deputy of the Supreme Council of the MSSR, a deputy of the Tiraspol city council, the head of an enterprise, she devoted her life to the development of her native city and region.
Under the leadership of Valentina Solovieva at the clothing factory named after 40 years of the VKLSM (now Odema) built and equipped new workshops and production lines, its own clinic and hostels for factory workers. Solovieva proposed the idea of building the Sovremennik Palace of Culture, now the Palace of the Republic. In addition, thanks to her initiative, many kindergartens and residential buildings were built in the city, a bridge across the Dniester was erected, and the first trolleybus line was opened in Tiraspol in 1967.
Valentina Sergeevna was awarded the title of "Honorary Citizen of Tiraspol", Hero of Socialist Labor, holder of three orders of Lenin, the Order of Labor Glory, the Order of the Badge of Honor and the Order of the Republic (PMR) for her services.
The "Obnovlenie" (Renewal) Republican Party, within the framework of the My Great Compatriots project, organized the installation of a banner dedicated to Valentina Solovieva on the central square of the city. Veterans of the factory, deputies of the Supreme Council, activists of the party, youth and ordinary Tiraspol residents gathered at its opening. Valentina Solovieva had a huge impact on the textile industry of Tiraspol and turned the garment association named after 40 years of the Komsomol (now CJSC "Odema") into one of the leading manufacturers garments in the USSR. Her professionalism, dedication and creativity have played an important role in the success of the enterprise. The banner will hang over the central square of the Pridnestrovian capital for 2 months.
