In Memory of the Hero who lived near us

Memorial plaque in honor of the former student Pavel Tkachenko was opening in Tiraspol school number 9. The event was attended by representatives of the republic’s law enforcement agencies, the city leadership, representatives of public organizations, schoolchildren, the OGRV leadership, pupils of the Suvorov college and cadets.

Sergeant Pavel Tkachenko served at the IL-20 as a flight mechanic. This was his first trip to the war. Pavel Tkachenko grew up in Tiraspol in a military family, served in the OGRV.

On September 17, 2018, the IL-20 of the Russian airborne forces performed a full-time combat mission. In the same air defense area, the Syrian army fired rockets at Israeli fighters that attacked targets in Syria. One missile hit the IL-20, on board of which there were 15 members of the armed forces of the Russian Federation. Everyone died. These guys served in Syria and performed a combat mission there - the fight against terrorism. Among them was our countryman - Sergeant Pavel Tkachenko.

Dmitry Zelenkov in his speech at the rally recalled that "big officials of European states are trying to rewrite the history of Russian soldier’s feat".

After the grand opening of the memorial plaque, the event participants visited the school museum, where a large section is devoted to the life and feat of Pavel Tkachenko.
