Using phones in class will be prohibited for pupils in the new school year

03.04.2024

Pridnestrovian schoolchildren are banned from using gadgets (cell phones, smartphones, tablets and others) in classrooms. The deputies adopted the relevant amendments and additions to the law of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic "On Education" in the second final reading at the plenary session. The authors of the law-in-draft are deputies of the relevant parliamentary Committee on Education, Public Associations and the Media Igor Buga, Andrei Safonov and Pavel Shinkariuk.

How and where gadgets will be stored during lessons will be determined by the Ministry of Education, having developed a special document.

Amendments in the relevant law affected some of the rights and obligations of participants in the educational process. This includes the teacher's right to respect for human dignity, protection from all forms of physical and mental violence, and personal insults.

The new measures in the law "On Education" will come into force 60 days after the signing by the PMR President. It is expected that the new rules of conduct in schools will take effect from the new academic year.
