The fallen defenders are remembered in the towns of Pridnestrovie (supplemented)

Pridnestrovian towns are hosting today commemorative events dedicated to the memory of the defenders of the republic and civilians who died in the summer of 1992.

In Tiraspol, in the city center at the Memorial of Glory there are citizens, social activists, defenders of Pridnestrovie, combat veterans, Deputy of the Supreme Council Andrei Safonov, representatives of the state administration and the city council of the capital, relatives of the victims gathered early in the morning. They honored the memory of the fallen Tiraspol defenders of the republic with a minute of silence and laid flowers at their graves. Representatives of the younger generation held portraits of fallen heroes in their hands.

One of the most brutal and bloody operations of Moldova against the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic began 32 years ago, on June 19. The Bendery tragedy meant hundreds of dead and wounded, a bloody graduation ball, schools and a maternity hospital shot up.

Those present honored with a minute of silence the memory of those who gave their lives defending their homeland in difficult times. The delegation from Tiraspol went to the city of Bendery after the ceremony, where the main mourning events dedicated to the beginning of the Bendery tragedy traditionally take place.

489 Pridnestrovians died, of which 132 were civilians, five were children during 40 days of fighting in Bendery. 1242 people, including 698 civilians, were injured. 80 thousand city residents became refugees. 804 Pridnestrovians died during the aggression of Moldova in total, 271 of them were civilians, the “News of Pridnestrovie” news agency cites sad statistics.

In Dubossary, Deputy of the Supreme Council of the PMR Boris German took part in the “Wreath of Memory” event, which traditionally takes place in the city on June 19 on the anniversary of the Bendery tragedy. Residents of Dubossary form a wreath of fresh flowers at the city Memorial of Military Glory, as a sign of solidarity with the residents of Bendery and in memory of the fallen Bendery residents every year on this day.

In Rybnitsa, a flower-laying ceremony dedicated to the 32nd anniversary of the Bendery tragedy took place at the monument to the defenders of the Fatherland. The event was attended by defenders of Pridnestrovie, representatives of the state administration and city council, deputies of the Supreme Council for the Rybnitsa constituencies Valentin Matveychuk and Vasily Kunitsky, social activists and students. Residents of Rybnitsa and the villages of the region without hesitation rushed to the aid of Bendery residents and stood up to defend the young republic on this day32 years ago. 31 residents of Rybnitsa died in the battles for the independence of Pridnestrovie.

There is “Bendery 1992” photo exhibition in Rybnitsa today. The war was opened through the lens of Valery Kruglikov’s camera”. Rybnitsa residents were able to see documentary evidence of the tragic events that took place in Bendery in 1992. The exhibition provided an opportunity to touch history and recall events that should not be forgotten.
