Residents of the city of Bendery and guests of the city gather annually at the Military-Historical Memorial Complex in Bendery on the 29th of August. Celebration of the regimental holiday of the 55th Podolsk Infantry Regiment has become traditional in our republic. The President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Vadim Krasnoselsky initiated the commemoration of this military unit, which left a bright mark in the military history and in the chronicles of our region in 2017.

As the press service of the PMR President writes, the 55th Podolsk Infantry Regiment is the progenitor of today's peacekeepers who serve on the Pridnestrovian land. It was formed 223 years ago on the shores of the Gulf of Finland, and has changed its location more than once. It was placed in Bendery three times. The regiment was officially disbanded in 1917, but its deeds remained forever in the memory of descendants.

The PMR President, deputies of the Supreme Council of the PMR and participants in the event after the litiya for the fallen soldiers laid flowers at the Orthodox cross installed on the territory of the Military Historical Memorial Complex, paying tribute to the memory of not only the soldiers of the Podolsk, but also the soldiers and officers who were buried in this cemetery more than one and a half hundred regiments of the Russian Imperial Army. Vadim Krasnoselsky initiated and led the work on the restoration of the military cemetery and the creation of memorial complex on its basis.

Events in honor of the soldiers of the 55th Podolsk regiment continued on the territory of the Bendery fortress.
