Mourning events dedicated to the 29th anniversary of the death of employees of the city militia department were held in Bendery

01.04.2021

Outskirts of Bendery, this street was formerly called Sovkhoznaya. After the tragic events of 1992, it is named of Captain Echin. The fate of many Bendery residents changed at the Orthodox chapel 29 years ago. The only city on the right bank of Pridnestrovie - Bendery - then for the first time faced aggression from Moldova. The Moldovan militia detachment, accompanied by two armored personnel carriers, shot Pridnestrovian militiamen, guardsmen and civilians. This was the first blood of the Bendery tragedy. The Chairman of the PMR Supreme Council Alexander Korshunov, Chairman of the PMR Government Alexander Martynov, Minister of Internal Affairs Ruslan Mova and the Head of the state administration of Bendery Roman Ivanchenko came to lay flowers at the memorial sign today.

The Head of the state administration Bendery Roman Ivanchenko spoke about the chronology of the events of that terrible day.

The Head of the city added that during that period the Pridnestrovian people rallied even more and defended the right to live on their land.

Due to quarantine measures and a difficult epidemiological situation, the defenders of Pridnestrovie and the townspeople did not gather at the site of the tragedy in Echina Street today. The traditional requiem meeting was not held. But the memory of the victims is forever in the heart of every Pridnestrovian.
