Approximately 11 hectares of forest were planted in Pridnestrovie in 2022

03.05.2023

A significant part of Pridnestrovie is occupied by arable land, and only 8% of the total area is occupied by forests. This is 31 thousand hectares. The optimal forest area should be 12-14% for the territory of our republic. The state program provides for the planting of oak forests. Almost 2 million seedlings will be needed to restore English oak plantations. The necessity for planting material is 7140 oak seedlings per 1 hectare. According to the state program, 12.5 hectares were to be planted Last year, the work was completed by 85% as a result. The lack of sufficient amount of planting and sowing material, insufficient mechanization, shortage of labor resources, and presence of crop damage by wild boars are the reasons. This information is contained in the report of the Government of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic on the implementation in 2022 of the state program for the restoration of tall oak forests on the lands of the State Forest Fund of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. The state program has been in force since 2021 and is designed for 20 years. Phased funding will allow efficient use of resources and achieve the most significant results in the restoration of primary forests in the republic.

Forest lands require care and rational use. Sanitary and reforestation cuttings were carried out in Kamenka, Rashkov and Dubossary forestries on an area of 5.5 hectares within the framework of the state program in 2022.

The plan provided for the purchase of the necessary agricultural equipment, tractors, mulchers and mechanisms for lowering stumps in the amount of 1 million 54 thousand rubles in 2021. However, 128.8 thousand rubles were allocated from the Republican Ecological Fund for the implementation of the plans in 2021 due to the negative economic situation in the republic that is 17% of the target. Only one mechanism instead of two was purchased to lower the stumps. 176 thousand rubles were allocated from the Ecofund in 2022. These funds were used to purchase equipment, one UM-Forest mulcher. The amount of funds allocated for the implementation of the state program for the restoration of forests amounted to 374 thousand rubles in total. The negative external economic situation interfered, when funds from the budget were forced to be redirected to other items of expenditure.

The parliamentarians, approving the report, focused the Government's attention on the fact that planning and spending of funds should take place in accordance with the directions and volumes provided for by the program and current legislation, and make timely changes to the volumes and financing of the state program, taking into account the emerging economic realities if necessary.
