New state program for the prevention of tuberculosis will start operating in 2021

18.11.2020

The epidemiological situation in terms of incidence of tuberculosis is no longer as critical as it used to be, but it still remains difficult in Pridnestrovie. According to the PMR Ministry of Health, since 2018, Pridnestrovians have become less ill with this dangerous disease - approximately 80-100 cases per 100 thousand people. Previously, the ratio was 130: 100000. Experts are confident that diagnostics and treatment have improved thanks to the action of the state targeted program. It operated from 2016 to 2020. A new state program has now been adopted.

Activities for prevention and treatment of tuberculosis are carried out at the expense of budget funds and at the expense of grants from international organizations, including the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.

According to the state target program, calculated until 2025, in Pridnestrovie will continue to carry out therapeutic, diagnostic and preventive measures at all stages of managing tuberculosis patients, providing with medicines, disinfection in foci of infection and in anti-tuberculosis institutions, transportation of patients and drugs, protection of medical personnel and awareness of Pridnestrovians about the danger of tuberculosis.

Two items were excluded from the tuberculosis prevention program. The objects are included in the cost estimate of the Capital Investment Fund for the next year. This is the completion of the construction of the TB hospital, which remained unfinished through the ANO "Eurasian Integration", and the opening in Bendery at the Republican Tuberculosis Hospital of a "closed" department for compulsory treatment of patients with a dangerous form of the disease. By the way, it is after the start of the work of the "closed type" departments where patients by a court decision will be sent. Now, this provision of the law "On prevention of the spread of tuberculosis in the PMR" can not be executed in full.

A total of 5 years of implementation of the state program for the prevention of tuberculosis must be 98 million rubles. Almost 19 million rubles are needed to implement the state program for 2021. At the same time, it is planned to allocate a little more than 7.5 million rubles from the republican budget, the rest of the money is grants from the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. The strategy to reduce the global incidence of tuberculosis has been operating since 2014 under the auspices of the World Health Organization.
