Strengthen the role of constitutionalism

A group of deputies of the Supreme Council developed a number of amendments to the Constitution and the Law "On the Constitutional Court". Galina Antyufeeva, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Legislation, presented legislative initiatives. Legislative initiatives are aimed at strengthening the role and confirmation of the inviolability of the norms of the main Law of the state. The purpose of the legislations, as stated in the explanatory note to the document, is "the strengthening of the role of constitutionalism". It is proposed to limit the Constitutional Court in the part of resolving cases on the constitutionality of laws introducing amendments to the Constitution of the Republic.

The deputy corps supported the legislations in the first reading. As the vice-speaker noted, all comments and suggestions will be taken into account when working on the document in the second reading mode.
