Improve the situation on the roads

The deputy corps in the first reading adopted the legislative initiative of the President to tighten the responsibility for violations in the sphere of road safety. Amendments were made to the Criminal Code and the Code of Administrative Offenses. As explained the head of the legal department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Radion Chebotar, the need for the law-in-draft is dictated by the prevailing negative dynamics of road accidents.

In addition, the law-in-draft provides for the strengthening of measures of responsibility for offenses, which caused the death of a person through imprudence. The representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs drew attention to the fact that this year the law "On road safety" came into force, the state simplified the mechanism for drivers to pass vehicle inspection, optimized traffic regimes, but drivers should understand the degree of public danger while driving a car .

While supporting the author's proposal to toughen the responsibility for violation of traffic rules, parliamentarians also noted the need to analyze and identify the causes of negative road statistics.

Supporting the colleague, the head of the responsible parliamentary committee on legislation, Galina Antyufeeva, emphasized that a sensible, reasonable approach is needed to change the situation on the roads.

The representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs also agreed with the comments and suggestions. The work to improve legislation in the sphere of road safety will continue in the second reading of the law-in-draft.
