Strengthening the fire brigade personnel

02.06.2021

The Supreme Council today discussed the issue of the shortage of specialists in the fire departments of the Main Emergency Department. Today, the structure lacks a quarter of the regular number of firefighters. The lack of personnel is especially experienced in Tiraspol and Bendery. Next year graduates of the Slobodzeya Polytechnic College will join the ranks of firefighters. The state can give them a respite from the army. This proposal was made by the PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky. The deputies supported the presidential legislations (1, 2) in the first reading.

The technical school in Slobodzeya is the only institution in the republic that trains future firefighters and rescuers. The opportunity to get secondary vocational education in the specialty "Protection in emergency situations" appeared in 2018. 3 groups of 30 people are studying now. There will be the first graduation of young specialists in 2022.

The PMR President proposes to give deferral from the army to future firefighters for the duration of their service. If they leave before the age of 27, then they are drafted into the Armed Forces, explained the Head of the Control and Legal Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Radion Cebotari. The initiative of the President is aimed at strengthening the personnel of the fire service to ensure the proper level of fire safety in the republic. Amendments are made to the law "On general conscription and military service". The norms of the law "On fire safety in the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic" are also being corrected, since it is necessary at the legislative level to secure the right to admit to the fire and emergency rescue service those who have professional education in the sphere of fire safety, protection of the population and territories from emergencies, but did not complete compulsory military service.

The Legislation Committee will continue the work on the draft laws adopted in the first reading. The second reading is scheduled for plenary meeting on the 9th of June.
