A meeting with the representatives of the Kursk regional public organization "Community and cultural center" Community of Moldavians" was held in the central office of “The Obnovlenie” (Renewal) party. Members of the delegation were met by the deputies of the Supreme Council Sergei Cheban, Mikhail Burla and Oleg Vasilaty. This is reported by the party's press service. Members of the Moldovan community of the Russian city arrived in Pridnestrovie with a fact-finding visit on the days of the Republic Day celebration. The purpose of the visit is to establish cooperation between the Moldovan diaspora of Kursk and the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic in various spheres - culture, education, economy.
The head of the community Elena Bulkhak said that the organization, existing for several years, provides support to Moldovan citizens who live in the Kursk region. They are provided with free legal advice, help in finding job, identifying children in schools and kindergartens, organize cultural events and language courses. The activities of the Moldovan community are supported by the regional administration.
The Kursk community of Moldovans interacts with dozens of other similar national associations throughout Russia. Sergei Sandu, chairman of the Transdniestrian Moldovan Union of Pridnestrovie, who also took part in the meeting, noted that the Moldovan community of Kursk proposed the organization to conclude a cooperation agreement, and "this is the first such international contact for 25 years of work".
In turn, the chairman of the parliamentary committee for social policy, Sergei Cheban, talked about cultural and humanitarian Pridnestrovian projects, in which children and young people, teachers and people of creative professions actively participate. For example, the contest of young readers and poets "Live Word", held under the auspices of "The Obnovlenie" party, annually attracts more and more children performing works in the Moldovan language.
In the course of the conversation, a wish was voiced to establish twin-city relations between the regional centers of the Kursk region and the cities of Pridnestrovie, the organization of economic cooperation. The meeting participants also expressed hope that the agreement on twinning between Tiraspol and Kursk, concluded in the early 2000s, will be filled with new content.
