Tourism in Pridnestrovie during the pandemic

02.02.2022

The support and development of tourism in Pridnestrovie was discussed today in the course of the regular plenary session. Amendments to the state target program for 2019-2026 were submitted by the Supreme Council deputies for consideration.

At the suggestion of the PMR Government, a part of the mass events were excluded from the number of events planned for this year. Two forums fell under the reduction - tourism and investment in connection with restrictive measures in the context of the coronavirus. As the PMR Tourism Agency noted, the epidemiological situation will not allow holding the forums in full and it is not possible for some of the guests to come to Pridnestrovie at all for security reasons.

The next exhibition is scheduled for the first days of April. It will take place in Yekaterinburg. The Pridnestrovian Tourism Agency signed a cooperation agreement with the Ural tour operators, under which the first tourist groups have already arrived in the republic in 2021. Anna Mikolishina noted that other regions of Russia also show their interest in Pridnestrovie as a tourist destination. The Agency expects that participation in international exhibitions will make it possible to conclude other cooperation agreements.

However not only Russian tourists are expected in Pridnestrovie – agency is promoting Pridnestrovie on various foreign resources within the framework of the state target program, including European ones. Informational signs to the main historical sites are installed throughout the republic for tourists from far abroad. The installation of plates with a special barcode will begin this year, which will allow you to go to an Internet resource with basic information about the object in two languages - Russian and English. Sanitary zones will be equipped near the main Pridnestrovian sights this year within the framework of the program.

As for the financing of the “Support and development of tourism in the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic” for 2019-2026” state target program, less funds will be allocated from the republican budget for its implementation due to the exclusion of several events from the list of events planned for this year.

The deputies adopted amendments to the state program for the development of tourism in two readings at once. The document has been sent to the President for signature.
