A front-line dugout for veterans was held in Tiraspol

09.05.2024

The front-line dugout took place in the capital. It is held every year. The dugout traditionally gathers veterans, home front workers, and blockade survivors so that they can once again remember the events of the Great Patriotic War. The top officials of the state spoke about the exploits of the soldiers of the Great Patriotic War together with them.

There are fewer and fewer people who saw the horrors of that war with their own eyes every year. Only 3 veterans of the Great Patriotic War, who today live in the capital, were able to come to the dugout this time. Konstantin Puganov, Alexey Zhdanov and Vladimir Gromov.

Vladimir Gromov – is a heavy machine gunner. The veteran recalled this year how he met that very first Victory, when the commander brought the good news to their real dugout. May 9 has been the main date of the year for him since then. Vladimir Gromov was drafted into the Red Army at the age of 17. Today he is a participant in two Victory Parades in 2015 and 2018 on Red Square in Moscow, and was awarded the Order of Glory III degree and the Order of the Patriotic War.

Soldiers' porridge and tea were prepared in a real field kitchen for veterans and guests of the dugout. Songs about the war were sung. Veterans came to the dugout with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Everyone has almost a century of lived life behind them after all; they can no longer do without help, but today they do not remember their battle wounds. What is more important now is the memory of those who did not live to see Victory Day and about those who left.

Next to the veterans and the country's leadership. They speak of the feat of the Soviet soldier, which cannot be forgotten.

There are 11 veterans of the Great Patriotic War left in the capital today. Many no longer participate in the dugout due to health problems, but they are definitely congratulated. Musical lorries travel through all the cities and villages of Pridnestrovie these days. Young people in the uniform of the Great Patriotic War perform their favorite “Blue Handkerchief”, “Victory Day” and many other songs. The First President of the PMR, Igor Smirnov, spoke about the importance of this day in history.

Chairman of the Supreme Council of the PMR Alexander Korshunov called on people to remember how important and fragile the world is, which must be preserved.

There are those in the family of every resident of Pridnestrovie who fought on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War, worked in the rear and gave everything for the Victory. Including the most valuable thing - life. Therefore, Victory Day is a holiday for the entire republic and every family.
