The Republic is preparing to hold a single voting day, the first time in the history of Pridnestrovian statehood that will be held on 29 November. Citizens will have to choose members of the Supreme and local councils, heads of administrations of villages and towns. The state faces the task of holding free, democratic and legitimate elections.
The agenda of the first plenary meeting of the tenth session had included a draft resolution of the Supreme Council regarding the treatment of the legislature to the President and head of government to cancel the order of the Government, which ordered the CEC to move to another building.
Earlier in the session of the Presidium of the Supreme Council the information on the activities of the CEC was heard. The Committee Chairman Elena Gorodetskaya noted the necessity to divide the process of moving and the organization of elections in view of the technical difficulties. The move could have a negative impact on the performance of the tasks assigned to the Central Election Commission. Members of the Presidium decided to send a letter to the Prime Minister with a request to cancel the order before the end of the campaign, which started on September 3. But so far, the reply has not been received.
In the course of the plenary session the deputies discussed the draft resolution on the treatment of the president and government with a similar request.
In addition, she said that, despite the started from September 3 election campaign the technical conditions for the work of members of district and territorial election commissions has not yet been created. The head of the Central Election Commission emphasized the importance of rapid organizational issues in preparation for the single day of voting.
The head of the Central Election Commission also informed about the treatment of the National Union of Defenders of Pridnestrovie, expressing position on the move. According to members of the public organization, in anticipation of the single voting day, it can lead to the disruption of the process of preparation and conduct of elections, scheduled for November 29th.
According to results of voting the members of parliament adopted a resolution of the Supreme Council regarding the appeal to the President and the Government.
