Central Bank of Pridnestrovie will keep the current exchange rate of the ruble against the dollar

29.10.2020

The Pridnestrovian Republican Bank will maintain the range of the ruble exchange rate within the current corridor of 16,10-16,50 rubles per dollar in 2021. This item is one of the main directions of the unified state monetary policy for the next year, which was approved by the Banking Council of the PRB. Deputies of the PMR Supreme Council Alexander Korshunov and Grigory Dyachenko took part in it.

The main directions of monetary policy for 2021 take into account the risks for the Pridnestrovian economy. First of all, the emphasis is placed on the continuation of the quarantine measures in force around the world this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Such a development of events may again reduce external demand for goods from Pridnestrovian producers and reduce export volumes. Other risks include a reduction in quotas for imports of MMZ products to EU countries, increased economic and political pressure in the region, and others.

However, support for export-oriented enterprises in the face of declining business activity in the world and maintaining a stable situation in the financial market remain the main objectives of the PRB next year.

The PRB plans to complete in 2021 the development and introduce standards for the work of microfinance organizations in the republic. The mechanism for establishing the full cost of a consumer loan and the rules for granting it to the borrower will help protect the rights of consumers and strengthen the confidence of Pridnestrovians in the financial market.
