The Central Election Commission of the PMR celebrates its 32nd anniversary on September 11. The meeting dedicated to the birthday of the Central Election Commission was held with the participation of the Chairman of the Supreme Council of the PMR Alexander Korshunov, Deputy Chairman of the Government of Pridnestrovie for legal regulation and interaction with public authorities, Head of the Government Office of the PMR Stanislav Kasap, Honorary Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the PMR Petr Denisenko and other guests who in different years worked in the Central Election Commission of Pridnestrovie.
The Central Election Commission of the then Pridnestrovian Moldavian Soviet Socialist Republic was formed on September 11, 1990 on the initiative of the deputies of the Provisional Supreme Council. This was necessary for organizing and holding elections of people's deputies. The Central Electoral Commission was formed by the Pridnestrovian parliament only for the period of organizing and holding elections for 10 years. The Central Electoral Commission of the PMR took a permanent place in the system of state authorities in August 2000. The system of election commissions has gone from holding elections in the most difficult conditions and writing all documents by hand to working in digital format since 1990, when all necessary documents can be sent by e-mail.
The Central Election Commission has organized 7 national referendums and about 20 republican election campaigns for more than three decades of its activity. Chairman of the CEC of the PMR Elena Gorodetskaya noted that the Central Election Commission in recent years has been actively working with young people.
Speaker of the Parliament Alexander Korshunov noted in his speech that an effective system has been created that meets all international electoral standards over the 32 years of the election commission's activity.
The system of the election commission has taken place and continues to improve. We are talking about both the regulatory framework and the methods of voting. Only the most important thing remains unchanged – all elections fully reflect the opinion of voters, considers the honorary chairman of the PMR CEC Petr Denisenko. He especially emphasized that voting was also held in the republic during the pandemic. The organization of such campaigns was especially difficult. However, it is important to preserve the opportunity for the citizens of our country to manage the affairs of their state through elections and referendums, freely express their position on the most important issues of state and public life, and take an active part in the formation of elected bodies of state power and local self-government.
Distinguished employees were awarded letters of thanks from the PMR President on the occasion of the upcoming holiday. Members of the Youth Parliament were among those awarded. Demonstrating their active civic position, they also take part in the work of youth election commissions, which were organized by the PMR Central Election Commission.
