Mourning ceremony was held on the territory of the Memorial Complex near the walls of the Tiraspol Fortress on the eve of the Day of Remembrance of Victims of Political Repression. Mass executions were carried out there in the 30s of the last century. Excavations in this place have been going on since the 90s. The remains of more than two thousand people were reburied that time. Active search work was resumed in 2017. The remains of 1179 people were exhumed during two years. The remains of another 462 people were committed to the earth according to all secular and religious canons today.

A minute of silence was announced in memory of the victims of political repression. The funeral litia was served by representatives of various confessions - clergymen of the Tiraspol-Dubossary diocese, the Roman Catholic Church, the Church of Evangelical Christians-Baptists and the rabbi of the Jewish community. The first persons of the state, representatives of public organizations and townspeople laid flowers at the mass grave.

Four execution pits have been discovered and the remains of hundreds of those killed have been recovered this year. They are reburied in mass graves after research work. It is necessary to find out the identity of these people and the circumstances of their death. This difficult work is being done by our archaeologists, historians, members of the Heirs of Victories movement.

Memorial candles were lit in the Church of the New Martyrs and Confessors of the Russian Church in memory of those who perished during the years of repression.
