Ceremonial meeting for the 33rd anniversary of the Supreme Council

29.11.2023

The first meeting of the first government body of the young republic took place on November 29, 1990. A ceremonial meeting dedicated to the 33rd anniversary of the formation of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic was held before the start of the plenary session. It was attended by the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Vadim Krasnoselsky and the Chairman of the Government of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Alexander Rosenberg.

It is no coincidence that the Supreme Council became the first government body of the state that was only formed in 1990, as Parliament Speaker Alexander Korshunov noted in his speech. The Parliament after all is the highest representative body of government. Each deputy represents the interests of thousands of citizens of Pridnestrovie. Just as the republic itself was created thanks to the strength and will of our people.

Alexander Korshunov reminded those present in the plenary hall that the first deputies were industrialists, farmers and social activists. It was the first deputies who laid the foundations for the social orientation of the young state. The main task in the work of the Supreme Council has been for 33 years to take care of the citizens of the republic, the speaker added.

The speaker focused on the importance of the participation in the work of the current parliament of the first Pridnestrovian deputies, led by the First President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Igor Smirnov. The Youth Parliament also operates on the platform of the Supreme Council.

The work on new laws and amendments to existing legislation is carried out jointly with the President and the Government representatives. This is how, by listening to the different points of view of all interested parties, the country’s main legislature can make informed decisions, considers Alexander Korshunov.

The President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Vadim Krasnoselsky came to congratulate the parliamentarians on the anniversary of the creation of the legislative body of the republic. He knows well about parliamentary work. The President was in the past elected as a deputy and headed the Supreme Council at the beginning of the work of the 6th convocation.

Today, Vadim Krasnoselsky presented state awards to the best of the best employees of the Supreme Council Staff: orders, medals, certificates of honor and letters of gratitude.

Speaker Alexander Korshunov awarded the head of state the badge “For his contribution to the cause of parliamentarism” on the occasion of the anniversary of the creation of the Pridnestrovian Parliament.
