The State program for the restoration of land reclamation

The issue of restoring the melioration system has been raised since 2018 in the Supreme Council and the last dry years have shown that without reliable irrigation systems, farmers will suffer serious losses. Pridnestrovie is in the zone of risky agriculture and one cannot count on a stable harvest if there is no artificial irrigation.

The parliament adopted the law "On land reclamation in the PMR" at the end of 2020 developed by the specialized committee. The law became the foundation for the regulation of legal relations in the reclamation complex. The Government at the insistence of the deputies has developed a state target program for the restoration and development of irrigation systems this year. Deputies of the Supreme Council and land users took part in the preparation of the program. The objects that were to be repaired were selected, a calculation of costs and an action plan for the restoration of the reclamation complex were drawn up. The program is designed for 6 years.

The total amount of funds for the implementation of the program is 174 million rubles. The expansion of irrigated areas will be about 40 thousand hectares. Land users will also take part in the project. They will help restore on-farm irrigation networks. Many farmers are planning to expand the area of ​​irrigated land.

The new state program is aimed at reducing the volume of imported products and creating additional jobs. Due to the growth in production on our counters, the share of food products of our own production will increase, and this, in turn, should ensure the food security of Pridnestrovie.
