1122 hectares of land, inhabited by 3240 people - Russian, Moldovan, Gagauz and other nationalities. Pridnestrovian villages Thea and Tokmazeya are located in the south of Grigoriopol district. They merged into one territorial administrative unit and mark the general's birthday - 19 September. However, dates of foundation are different. According to archive data, the first settlers appeared on the territory of present Thea in 1711, and Tokmazeya - in 1791. The name of the first village due to the growing on the banks of the Dniester trees, in the shade of which the settlers took refuge from the summer heat (Thea means linden). "Tokmay" - means wheat noodles, which was prepared by the locals - the name given to the second settlement. The Church of Archangel Michael, built in 1821, is also one for two. Hence, there is a general temple festival.
The festive divine was serviced this year by Bishop of Tiraspol and Dubossary Savva. He congratulated the villagers handed the birthday icon with the image of the Archangel Michael - the leader of the army of the Lord. He took part in a festive liturgy and the Chairman of the Supreme Council Vadim Krasnoselsky. Addressing the villagers, he emphasized the importance of preserving local history, the Orthodox and family values.
The celebrations in the rural house of culture continued. The President and speaker of parliament awarded meritorious. Local centenarians, newborn villagers, the couples and model family were honoured. Presents given to those whose farms were recognized as the best.
The State Dance Ensemble and Folk Music "Viorica" gave a concert for rural population of Thea and Tokmazeya upon completion of the official part.
