The Code of Strict Rules on election observation in Russia

02.11.2015

As the head of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation noted at the parliamentary hearings in the Federation Council, first of all we are talking about international observation.

According to him, the international observation of the elections must be free of politics and shift to professional direction.

The position of the head of the Central Electoral Commission was supported by the head of the Russian public institute of electoral law Igor Borisov. According to him, an international act is necessary and, subsequently, the adoption of amendments to national legislation on guarantees of activity of international observers at elections. In particular, Borisov proposed to prohibit missions of international observers to publish their statements before the official end of the campaign in the country.

Chairman of the Central Election Commission Vladimir Churov called for creation of a set of strict rules on election observation.
