The Certificate of Registration in the PMR to choose from: paper form or a stamp in the passport

02.02.2022

Citizens of the republic living in Pridnestrovie who have a permanent residence permit in another state will be able to choose registration at the place of stay either issue a certificate of registration at the place of residence in paper form or put a stamp in the passport indicating the terms of registration and the date of its execution. The corresponding law-in-draft was adopted today in the final reading by the deputies of the PMR Supreme Council at the plenary session.

The initiative of the Tiraspol City Council of People's Deputies is based on the appeals of citizens of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. The City Council deputy Aleksey Solovtsev notes that 30% of the citizens who applied to him carry registration certificates with them, which are often forgotten at home. They will not be accepted in any authority without such a document.

The law-in-draft gives citizens the right to choose: whoever wants to can put a mark in their passport, whoever is comfortable will continue to carry a paper certificate of registration with them, it does not lose its strength and significance.

The responsible Committee on Legislation, Protection of the Rights and Freedoms of Citizens introduced two amendments for the second reading. These amendments were adopted at the plenary session. The first amendment determines that the right to choose a stamp in the passport is granted only in the case of a long-term registration of a citizen of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic at the place of stay in the republic – more than 1 year. The second amendment is aimed at adjusting the date of entry into force of the law-in-draft. Accordingly, it will take effect one month from the date of its official publication. This is necessary to create an opportunity for the executive body of state power to amend the regulatory legal acts.
