Positions verification

The meeting of the Supreme Council of the Commission on foreign policy and International Relations was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of PMR. Representative delegation of mediators and guarantors of the negotiation process between Moldova and Pridnestrovie arrives tomorrow in our republic. Their meetings are planned with the President and Chairman of the Supreme Council. Before that, they will hold talks with the leadership of the Republic of Moldova in Chisinau. The goal of the mediators and guarantors - is to revive the negotiations between the parties.

In the course of the last meeting of the profile parliamentary committee the positions verification, develop a common platform in foreign policy were discussed. Currently, the most acute problem for Pridnestrovie is politically motivated criminal cases initiation by law enforcement agencies of Moldova against Pridnestrovians, including four parliamentarians, as well as the possible introduction of a joint Moldovan-Ukrainian control at the customs border crossing point "Kuchurgan - Pervomaisk" decision which was adopted by Kiev and Chisinau in November 2015.

Regarding the first aspect, Pridnestrovie insisted on unconditional closure of criminal cases by institutions of Moldova with regard to Pridnestrovian politicians, statesmen, and businessmen. If we talk about the second part of the diplomatic agenda, Pridnestrovian authorities are trying to convince the mediators and guarantors in the counterproductive intentions of Moldova and Ukraine to organize joint control over the movement of people, goods and services through the Ukrainian-Pridnestrovian border as it violates the rights of Pridnestrovians and businesses.

The position of Pridnestrovie regarding negotiation has always been open and honest: dialogue meetings with Moldovan authorities, mediators, guarantors and observers are necessary, but in case of specific developments for the adoption of any decision that could make life easier for people living on the banks of the river - "meetings for the sake of meetings" are not necessary.

Parliamentarians during the dialogue with the representatives of the Foreign Ministry raised various issues relating to inter-parliamentary cooperation, peacekeeping operation, the implementation rules of the "Moscow" memorandum, according to which Pridnestrovie has the right to independent foreign economic activity, as well as regarding the establishment of productive cooperation of the legislature and the Foreign Ministry.
