A delegation of deputies of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation arrived in Pridnestrovie today. The delegation included Alexei Silanov and Artem Turov. The first meeting was with the President Vadim Krasnoselsky and the Chairman of the Supreme Council Alexander Shcherba.

The President thanked the Russian guests for their visit.

According to Vadim Krasnoselsky, the actual issue remains the possibility of obtaining citizenship by residents of Pridnestrovie, especially those born after 1992. In practice, they are deprived of such an opportunity.

As it was noted by Artem Turov, the State Duma of the Russian Federation is closely involved in issues of citizenship, discusses amendments to the laws that regulate this sphere. The possibility of granting the right to receive Russian citizenship was considered in simplified mode, as well as the possibility of obtaining Russian citizenship by children, if at least one of their parents is a citizen of the Russian Federation. The Russian parliament held hearings on this topic. Pridnestrovian parliamentarians also took an active part in it. As you know, Vice Speaker of the Pridnestrovian parliament Galina Antyufeeva spoke at the hearings, she voiced a number of proposals aimed at activating work with foreign compatriots.

At the end of the meeting, the Russian deputies took part in the parliamentary hearings on the topic "On the contemporary policy of the Russian Federation towards compatriots living in Pridnestrovie".
