Residents of the city of Bendery are concerned about the fate of two children's camps "Yunost" and "Lira". This issue was raised at the meeting of the President with Deputies of the Supreme and City Councils from the city of Bendery. A round table was held today at the state administration in Bendery, where the further fate of the objects was discussed. The dialogue was attended by the Chairman of the Supreme Council Alexander Korshunov, Head of the state administration Roman Ivanchenko, Chairman of the city council Yuri Kara, Deputy Olga Bogatu.
It was noted that the city needs the "Yunost" camp. It was proposed to increase the number of children on vacation to 500 people per shift, to allocate funds to increase the capacity of the camp for this. It received 400 children per shift in Soviet times. The situation with the "Lira" camp is more complicated. It suspended its work in 2006 and is still not functioning.
The restoration of the "Lira" territory as a social object was considered within the framework of the round table. For example, a nursing home could be located here. Now the city has a need for such an object. There are lonely pensioners with relatives abroad. The most important issue is the preservation of historical sites located on the territory of the "Lira" camp. Here is a cultural heritage site – a two-storey house, built in 1871. Once on the territory there was a dacha of the doctor Flemmer, there is an observation tower and a monument to the hero-Komsomol member Vitaly Banevur.
It is known that once there were beautiful gardens, vineyards, and the territory was considered a resting place for the townspeople.
As the deputy of the Supreme Council Oleg Petrik told the parliamentary press service, the camp has been in municipal ownership for more than two years. Last year, there were many discussions on the fate of the former camp, correspondence was conducted at the site of the city council, the state administration.
The participants of the round table agreed that it is possible to equip a boarding house for the elderly on the territory of the former camp "Lira". It is important to preserve cultural and historical sites and restore it. Possibly, the adjacent territory of Spetszelenstroy will be used for the construction of a boarding house. They will consider in the future the possibility of financing the facility not at the expense of the republican budget. The issue will be discussed at the platform of the President, the Supreme Council and the PMR Government.
