The construction of a new landfill for municipal solid waste was discussed in the course of the meeting with the President

05.06.2023

The issue of solid domestic waste disposal was discussed in the course of the video conference of the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, which was attended by the Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Alexander Korshunov. The operating landfill for municipal solid waste in the village of Malaeshty of Grigoriopol district stopped accepting garbage. A month is allotted for its cultivation. Waste from Tiraspol and Bender will be taken to the landfill in Parkany. Experts have calculated that with the current volumes of waste in the two cities, this site can be used until December 2023. New landfill should be ready by this time, the construction of which is planned on the basis of worked-out quarries, one and a half kilometers from the closed Malaeshty landfill.

The Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic is working on a legislative initiative of the President, which proposes to amend and supplement the law on the republican budget for 2023 and allocate about 25 million rubles for these purposes.

For reference, the endurance of the used solid waste landfill in the village of Malaeshty was exhausted in 2020 according to the project. The launch of a sorting line and constant reclamation helped to extend the period of its use. However, the landfill is full.

The project of a new landfill for municipal solid waste involves four sites. It will take at least six months to launch the first stage. The relevant Committee on Economic Policy, Budget and Finance has already considered the law-in-draft in preparation for adoption in the first reading. There will be a meeting tomorrow where the submitted amendments will be considered. It is planned that parliamentarians will adopt the law-in-draft in two readings at once this Wednesday at the plenary session.
