The capital of Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic - the city of Tiraspol - celebrates its 225th Birthday. The foundation day of the city is inextricably linked with the Orthodox holiday of the Protection of the Holy Virgin. Celebrations on this occasion began in the morning with the procession. Starting the movement from four sides, from sacred and symbolic places for the citizens, and passing through the streets of the capital, the procession columns converged in the center of Tiraspol, where once stood the main city church - the Intercession Church. Together with residents of Tiraspol, President Vadim Krasnoselsky, Speaker of the Parliament Alexander Shcherba, deputies of the Supreme Council, representatives of the Government and local authorities, honorary guests of the capital, including the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation Farit Mukhametshin.
On the main square of the country, Archbishop of Tiraspol and Dubossary Savva served solemn liturgy in honor of the temple festival of Tiarspol.
Leadership of the republic, citizens and guests of the capital laid flowers at the memorial sign where once stood the Intercession Cathedral, symbolizing the "heart" of Tiraspol. It is here, on the sacred place for Tiraspol, in the near future, an Orthodox chapel will be built. The President told in his interview to journalists about the shared idea with the representatives of the church. Vadim Krasnoselsky congratulated Tiraspol on the anniversary of the founding of the capital, wishing everyone peace, happiness, prosperity and good luck.
Then the officials went to the capital's Memorial of Glory, where they honored the memory of all the soldiers who at different times gave their lives for their native land. Tiraspol residents and guests of the capital laid flowers to the eternal fire and the graves of soldiers.
They lay scarlet carnations at the pedestals of the founders of the city - the military architect Franz de Volan, the Empress of Russia Catherine II, as well as the monument to the great Russian commander Alexander Suvorov, whose image is a symbol of Tiraspol.
The holiday continued with a festive concert, in which a wreath of the multinational art of Pridnestrovie was organically intertwined.
