Investigation Committee of PMR was formed September 28, 2012. The agency was endowed with functions of preliminary investigation and public prosecution in court as a result of the reorganization of law enforcement of the republic.
The result of activity of the Investigative Committee for 2014 was announced at the board meeting. It was attended by Chairman of the Supreme Council Mikhail Burla, as well as the head of the Committee on Legislation, Law Enforcement, Protection of the Rights and Freedoms of Citizens Galina Antyufeeva and head of the Committee on Security, Defense and Peacekeeping Andrey Sipchenko.
Chairman of the Investigative Committee department Vadim Kogut described the activities of the agency as "a stable job in difficult conditions". According to him, the coordination of interaction Investigative Committee PMR with other law enforcement agencies are under constant control. There is constructive cooperation with the services of law enforcement and other security agencies. During the reporting period, 22% decrease in the number of decisions made by the prosecutor about violation of applicable law. As the head of department Vadim Kogut said, this figure indicates the increase in the quality of the investigators and staff of procedural control. The number of criminal cases, the timing of the investigation, which had been violated, was reduced by 11%. Vadim Kogut also said that the Investigation Committee, following the example of Russia, has begun work on the creation of electronic filing of criminal cases. According to him, it allow quickly and inexpensively obtain the necessary information.
This year, the Investigation Committee plans to continue to reduce the period of investigation of criminal cases, paying special attention to the quality of the process, as well as to minimize the number of acquittals. Head of the agency also said that taking into account the difficult economic situation and the low standard of living of citizens priority for each investigator should be maximizing the recoverability of damages caused by the commission of crimes. It is also necessary to solve the problem of training in higher educational institutions of the republic and Russia.
According to the President of the PMR Yevgeny Shevchuk who took part in the final meeting of the Investigative Committee, today a serious lack of resources makes it impossible to attract qualified professionals. The President also emphasized the necessity for closer cooperation between law enforcement agencies.
Distinguished staff of the Investigative Committee were awarded departmental awards at the end of the board meeting.
