Medium Business: to consolidate legislation

15.03.2017

Vadim Krasnoselsky drafted a law-in-draft to support small and medium-sized businesses when he was a people's deputy. A number of amendments are proposed to be made to the law "On the development and support of small business". This normative-legal act defines the categories of micro and small enterprises. Practice has developed when a legal entity does not fall under the category of small enterprises by certain indicators, and automatically becomes a subject of large business. At the same time, a number of employees is not much greater than in a small enterprise. In this regard, the author suggests that the concept of "medium business" be prescribed in the law.

The initiative is supported by the parliamentarians of the responsible committee. The head, Victor Guzun, notes that the law-in-draft is based on numerous appeals of businessmen who raised this issue during their meetings with Vadim Krasnoselsky.

The Ministry of Economic Development supports the law-in-draft. Its head Sergei Obolonik noted that when determining the criteria of enterprises it will be necessary to take into account the specific features of the republic, turnover and incomes of enterprises. More details of the delineation of enterprises into categories will be discussed already in the second reading.
