Sports rehabilitation and rehabilitation center for people with special needs in Tiraspol was opened in September last year. The premises were visited by the PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky, heads of relevant departments, the Head of state administration of Tiraspol Oleg Dovgopol and Deputy of the Supreme Council for constituency No.28 Ilona Tyuryaeva, the presidential press service reports.
The institution was repaired during three years, the money was allocated from the Capital Investment Fund. Unfortunately, last year, due to the epidemiological situation in the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, the center could not fully function. At the initiative of the President of the PMR, the Operational Headquarters made a decision that soon the center will be able to receive Pridnestrovians with disabilities and provide them with the necessary assistance. The special commission approved the decision.
The Head of the center Georgy Cheban said that the republican sports rehabilitation center for people with special needs is ready to start work. The guests examined the new complex, which has four sports halls: a chess and checkers hall, a table tennis hall, a gym and a hall for game sports. Men's and women's changing rooms and bathrooms have been equipped in the rehabilitation center. There is a computer lab and a canteen. In the center of the complex there is a recording studio - the only one of its kind in Pridnestrovie. It will record audio literature for blind people. In the library itself there are many books written in Braille.
Deputy of the Supreme Council for the district Ilona Tyuryaeva emphasized in September, when the rehabilitation center was opening, that people with disabilities will be able to play sports now, improve their cultural level and live a full life. People with disabilities will be doubly happy to play sports and read after several months of quarantine and the center's downtime. An apparatus appeared in the library hall, which enlarges and displays on the monitor the text typed on paper. It helps the visually impaired. After a conversation with the Head of the institution, Vadim Krasnoselsky made a decision to purchase 10 such units. Four will be used by visitors to the center for people with special needs, six more will go to the Bendery correctional boarding school.
