120 defenders of Pridnestrovie were buried in the Alley of Heroes at the Borisov cemetery in Bendery. Every year on June 19, it is especially crowded here. Pridnestrovians from all cities of Pridnestrovie come to honor the memory of the heroes who gave their lives in the battles for Bendery.
On June 19, 1992, one of the bloodiest operations undertaken by Moldovan nationalists against the inhabitants of Pridnestrovie began - armed formations broke into Bendery. Civilians, children were killed, in the battles for Bendery for several days, residents of Bendery fought - both the military and who at the call of their hearts, stood up to defend the young state. Vera Nastachenko-Marandich, the mother of Vyacheslav Nastachenko, who died in the summer of 1992, admits that the pain still does not subside.
Both adults and very young guys defended Bendery. Everyone's name sounded at the Borisov cemetery today.
Archbishop of Tiraspol and Dubossary Sawa served a litiya for the killed defenders of Pridnestrovie. The President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Vadim Krasnoselsky, Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Alexander Korshunov, the leadership of the Government, deputies, residents of the city and relatives of the victims took part in the service.
The Alley of Heroes at the Borisov cemetery was reconstructed in 2019, on behalf of Vadim Krasnoselsky. Today fresh flowers have been laid on granite slabs at the graves of Bendery defenders.
