Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Alexander Korshunov is on a working visit in the capital of the Russian Federation. Alexander Korshunov took part in the IV International Conference “The Role of Interaction of Factions of Political Parties and Blocs in Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation of the CIS Countries” On December 12, the day of the 30th anniversary of the Constitution of the Russian Federation. It is held annually by the Russian State Duma Committee on Affairs of the Commonwealth of Independent States, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots. Among the conference participants were representatives of factions and blocs of the parliaments of Abkhazia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Pridnestrovie, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, South Ossetia, leaders and deputies of all factions of the State Duma.
The head of the United Russia faction in the State Duma Vladimir Vasiliev noted that December 8 marked the 32nd anniversary of the founding of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
The conference was chaired by the Chairman of the State Duma Committee of the Russian Federation on Affairs of the Commonwealth of Independent States, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots Leonid Kalashnikov. He gave the floor to the speaker of the Pridnestrovian parliament.
Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Alexander Korshunov at the beginning of his speech noted: “Parliamentarians of Pridnestrovie traditionally participate in events held within the walls of the State Duma, which allows for the consistent harmonization of the legislation of Pridnestrovie and the legislation of the Russian Federation, and systematically compare steps towards expanding inter-parliamentary cooperation”.
Alexander Korshunov emphasized that in the process of inter-parliamentary interaction, representatives of factions of political parties and blocs can and should play an active role, since representatives of all parliaments of the CIS countries are united by the desire to improve the quality of life of citizens and create conditions for the sustainable and prosperous development of states.
Alexander Korshunov focused in his speech on the points that cause concern to the leadership of Pridnestrovie and may threaten the safety of the citizens of the republic.
He noted that the Pridnestrovians support the preservation and strengthening of the peacekeeping operation as the only guarantee of the physical safety of our citizens and reject any initiatives and discussions about the future fate of the peacekeeping mission until the final political settlement of relations between Pridnestrovie and Moldova, and any attempts to eliminate the existing peacekeeping mechanism lead to escalation of tension.
Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic added that the protection of the rights and interests of Russian citizens and Russian compatriots living in Pridnestrovie has always been the “cornerstone” of interaction between the Supreme Council of Pridnestrovie and Russian parliamentary colleagues. The necessary support is provided at the level of deputies, at the level of leadership of factions, committees and the State Duma of the Russian Federation. Alexander Korshunov thanked his colleagues for their assistance and noted that he considers it important to continue further interparliamentary interaction.

The working visit of the Pridnestrovian delegation led by the Chairman of the Supreme Council of the PMR Alexander Korshunov to Moscow will last until the end of the week. The visit program includes meetings with deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, with the leadership of factions of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, with senators of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, with public figures of Russia and with compatriots.
