The Council of the public

The first meeting of this year with representatives of public organizations of the republic was held in the highest executive body of power. Among its participants is the head of the parliamentary committee on public associations, sports, information and youth policies, the Chairman of the Pridnestrovian Association of War Veterans in Afghanistan Igor Buga, reports the News of Pridnestrovie Agency.

The subject of discussion was the topic, stated in the first section of the Pridnestrovian Development Strategy, in particular, public security, the development of civil society and the state information policy. Applying to the latter, the head of the government Alexander Martynov called on journalists not to hush up the problems existing in society and to give an opportunity to voice various points of view.

The Supreme Council Deputy Igor Buga spoke in favor of greater openness in covering the work of the authorities, including with elements of criticism. In his opinion, it is necessary to increase the share of domestic (Soviet and Russian) films on TV channels. In addition, he urged to be more attentive to the activities of non-profit organizations with foreign sources of funding and to highlight their work in the media.

The topic of public safety was discussed from an economic point of view. The government recalled the measures that are being taken to support enterprises, attract investment, reduce the budget deficit, and noted the considerable role of public figures in solving many issues.

The meeting focused on the work of housing and communal services, retaining young cadres, patriotic education, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
