Improving the intellectual property registration system

22.11.2023

The initiative of the PMR Government was presented to the deputy corps, which proposes to amend the law “On State Duty” and the Civil Code of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.

Copyright certificates are issued at the moment for intellectual property objects, inventions, utility models, industrial designs, and selection achievements. The legislations considered in the first reading propose to improve the procedure for state registration of professional works created by an employee in the performance of official duties or on the instructions of the employer. If the employer has exclusive rights to the work, he will be issued a special certificate confirming his rights. The author is provided at the same time with an author's certificate confirming his right to authorship, remuneration and other rights provided by law. The law-in-draft provides for the possibility of issuing a duplicate of title of protection, patent or intellectual property certificate in the event of loss or damage.

Amendments to the law “On State Duty” propose to collect a fee for registration of intellectual property objects, such as inventions, trademarks, copyrights and others. The issue of charging a fee for obtaining a duplicate of a title of protection is also being considered.

The law-in-draft was supported by the deputy corps in the first reading. Work on it will continue.
